prince of Pylos, son of King Neleus
Taurus (son of Neleus)
Taurus is a prince of Pylos, son of King Neleus and Chloris, and brother of Nestor. He belongs to Greek mythology, and his story is tied to the sack of his city by Heracles.
The myth
According to tradition, Taurus was one of the many children of King Neleus and Chloris, daughter of King Amphion of Orchomenus. His siblings included Pero, Asterius, Pylaon, Deimachus, Nestor and Periclymenus, which makes his family one of the largest in the story. He lived in Pylos with his father and family.
The myth tells how Heracles attacked Pylos and killed Neleus and nearly all of his sons during the sack of the city. Only Nestor survived the slaughter. Taurus, like his father and brothers, died that day of violence, which left almost his whole family dead.
