daughter of Orchomenus and mother of the seer Mopsus

Chloris (daughter of Orchomenus)

Chloris is a figure of Greek myth, the daughter of Orchomenus and the wife of the seer Ampyx. She matters chiefly as the mother of Mopsus, a seer who joined the voyage of the Argonauts. She should not be confused with other women of the same name, such as the goddess of gardens or the wife of King Neleus of Pylos.

The myth

According to myth, Chloris was the daughter of Orchomenus and married Ampyx, son of Elatus. Their union produced Mopsus, a famous seer who took part in the voyage of the Argonauts.

Not all sources agree. Some call her Aregonis and claim she bore Mopsus to Zeus, a version that departs from her marriage to Ampyx.
